Take a creative shot of Holiday lights and you just might win one of 19 prizes being awarded to the winners of the “All About Texas Christmas Lights” photo contest. This is the 7th year of the free contest put on by two popular Austin eateries: The Hula Hut and Mozart’s Coffee Roasters.
The photo contest is free. Submissions should be made online to http://www.AllAboutTexasChristmasLights.com. The deadline for entry is midnight, Dec. 20, 2017.
“As long as there is at least one Christmas light in your photo, it can be a valid entry,” says Katrine Formby, the contest founder and one of the partners in both the Hula Hut and Mozart’s Coffee Roasters. “Past stand-out photos have included subjects such as outdoor building decor, children with lights behind them, animals surrounded by lights, unique Christmas trees, contemporary holiday concepts and just about anything that is memorable and has a sparkle to it.”
It’s not necessary to have a fancy camera to win one of the top prizes. Past winners have been shots taken from phone cameras. Each submission must have a caption and you must state the location (in Texas) of where you took the shot. Manipulating the photos (for example with Photoshop) is allowed. “Part of the creative process is working with a captured image so we accept photographs that have been enhanced with filters or manipulated.”
“We decided to make this a state-wide contest because we didn’t want to miss anything. It’s so much fun to see how other Texan’s celebrate Christmas and how creative they can be.”
First Prize is an iPad Pro. Second prize is a $250 gift card to both the Hula Hut and Mozart’s Coffee Roasters. Third prize is a $100 gift card to each restaurant. The 15 “Stand-Out” photos will each receive a $25 gift card to the Hula Hut and Mozart’s Coffee Roasters.
The photo contest is open to amateurs, professionals, children—anyone. To be considered for prizes here are the rules:
- Your photo must have Christmas lights in it.
-
Your photo must have been taken in Texas during the 2017 Holiday Season.
The winners will be announced online. You can see the top three winning photographs as well as the 15 “Stand-Out” entries on Saturday, Dec 23 on one of the following Facebook pages: All About Texas Christmas Lights, Hula Hut, or Mozart’s Coffee Roasters.
