Nikon Unveils Affordable NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 Lens

June 26, 2024 By PhotoContest.org Leave a Comment

Nikon has officially announced the release of the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4, a wide-angle prime lens designed for Z mount full-frame/FX format mirrorless cameras. This lens offers a bright maximum aperture of f/1.4, providing photographers with a natural angle of view that is particularly favored by street and portrait photographers. Known for its versatility, the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 enables users to capture beautifully soft bokeh and three-dimensional rendering at wide apertures, making it an attractive choice for those seeking creative freedom at an affordable price point.

The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 features a focal length that is ideal for a variety of photography genres, from landscapes and street scenes to portraits, flowers, and pets. With a short minimum focus distance of 10.6 inches (0.27 meters), the lens allows photographers to capture detailed close-ups with ease. Its fast maximum aperture also ensures outstanding performance in low-light conditions, producing sharp images with beautifully blurred backgrounds.

Weighing just 14.6 ounces (415 grams) and measuring only 3.4 inches (86.5 mm) in length, the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 is a compact and lightweight option that is perfect for everyday carry and versatile shooting scenarios. Its superior optical performance, characteristic of NIKKOR Z lenses, provides exceptional clarity and sharpness, even in close-up portraits and landscape photography.

The lens’s maximum aperture of f/1.4 allows photographers and filmmakers to achieve smooth, creamy out-of-focus backgrounds while precisely controlling depth-of-field for ideal subject and background separation. The 35mm focal length closely matches human vision, making it suitable for a wide range of scenes and subjects. On DX format Z cameras, it becomes a 52mm equivalent, akin to a classic 50mm standard lens. With a close focus distance of just 10.6 inches (0.27 meters), the lens is perfect for capturing detailed shots of food and flowers with a beautifully blurred background. Lightweight and easy to handle, it is comfortable for handheld shooting. Equipped with a stepping motor (STM), it offers fast and quiet autofocus, beneficial for both still photography and video recording. The clickless control ring allows for smooth adjustment of key exposure settings, including aperture, ISO sensitivity, and exposure compensation. The advanced optical design maintains consistent focal length during focusing, essential for video recording. Designed with seals to prevent dust and water droplets from entering the lens, it ensures durability.

The Nikon NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 lens is set to be available in mid-July 2024, with a suggested retail price of $599.95, making it an appealing choice for enthusiast creators seeking high performance and versatility in their photography gear.
